Brand Story

The first Bebop palace opened in the year 1934 in a small Bayou town named St. Martinsville in Louisiana, by a 35-year-old young chef and entrepreneur named Duke Thibodaux (also known as Papa Duke). Duke Who travelled back and forth between New Orleans and St Martinsville was an Avid Attendee at the yearly Marti Gras traditions held on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. He admire the festive atmosphere, the welcoming feeling, the Amazing Home cooked Creole recipes and Of course the Jazz.

Duke Took it upon himself to take the best thing about Marti Gras and New Orleans and bring them back to his small town for his family and neighbors to Enjoy. Duke Started the Bebop palace Which was first called “Papa Duke’s Juke joint” with just himself, his wife, and his mother. All cooking and serving. But Duke knew something was missing. It was the Entertainment. Duke wanted everyone to feel and live the Marti gras Experience when they came through the door. He hired a young Trumpet (Peedie Davis) and his band to play at his restaurant on Friday nights. Every Friday night Peedie and his Band would light up the place. There’d be great Cajun food and beautiful music feeling the air as the small building filled up with hungry mouths and hearts ready to enjoy the Experience. Today the Bebop palace is open in locations all over the Country bringing the spirit of New Orleans to Everyone. People all over the country can satisfy their curious palate with the taste of Home cooked Cajun creole meals and Enjoy the sounds of Jazz music. We encourage the world to join us in continuing to spread papa Duke‘s love for Jazz and great food.
At the Bebop palace we strive to deliver a New Orleans Jazz experience to everyone who walks through our doors. With our delectable Southern Cajun cuisine, fun and friendly staff bundled with the colorful and playful ambiance that reflects an old fashion Marti gras we bring the spirit and soul of New Orleans right to your table.
